Jewellery Display Stands
One of the biggest problems people find if they don't use jewellery display stands to present their jewellery for sale is that it looks flat, dull and lifeless. This is particularly true in those cases where the jewellery includes gems of any kind.
The trick with jewellery which includes gems is to make the best possible use of the light, and this generally means allowing light to pass through the gems to encourage as much sparkle and light as possible.
If you don't use jewellery display stands then you have little choice but to lay the jewellery flat, resting on a surface or material of some kind. But by doing this you immediately halve the amount of light passing into the gems, and restrict most of the light coming out.
This drastically reduces the light; vibrancy and colour of the gem, making the jewellery itself seem less vibrant. Clearly in displaying jewellery it is important to make best possible use of light in order to make the jewellery seem as eye catching and beautiful as possible.
By choosing the right kind of jewellery display stands you will be able to maximise the light, maximise the vibrancy of the gems and increase the likelihood of catching the eye of passing customers, and of course making more sales.
But the benefits of using appropriately selected jewellery display stands are not limited only to the effective use of light, highly important though this is. Another essential factor in maximising the display of jewellery is the shape of items such as necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
No matter how hard you try, in most cases laying a necklace down flat on a surface or cloth simply doesn't make the most of the shape and the design, lowering its aesthetic value and decreasing the ability of customers to visualise it in its proper shape.
When worn around the neck a necklace will be drawn into a slightly angled oval, and gravity will pull it into the perfect shape. Any drops of pendants will similarly be dropped into position, giving the necklace its proper look.
Necklaces are designed with this in mind, which is why distorting it into a purely flat shape, taking away any opportunity for gravity to work with you, results in a poor display. Even the most stunning necklace will lose much of its visual appeal if it is twisted out of its natural shape and forced flat.
Jewellery display stands of necklaces are often available as leatherette busts or displays which resemble the same angle, shape, size and curvature of the neck. This allows the necklace to retain its intended shape, and allows gravity to work with you, rather than against you, to pull the necklace out and ensure that it is visually as intended.
The same is true for many earrings, mainly drop earrings or those with multiple segments. Laying these down not only detracts from their natural three dimensional look, and minimises the amount of light reflecting and diffracting throughout the earrings, but also causes the earring to distort out of shape.
When you consider all of the time, effort, experience and skill which is invested in the design and manufacture of fine jewellery, it seems a tragic shame for the finished products to be twisted out of shape, forced to lie flat, and lit only from above so that the fine metal work or gems achieve all the sparkle and vibrancy of plain glass.
Jewellery display stands are available in a wide range of styles and designs, but in virtually every case the aim is the same - to provide a way for jewellery to be displayed in such a way that it is in precisely the shape intended, with the correct angles, the correct lighting opportunities and the right use of gravity, all of which help to increase the aesthetic appeal of the items on display, increasing the chance of people stopping to take a second look, and perhaps even placing an order.
If taking photographs of items of jewellery for a catalogue or promotional flyer then jewellery display stands will be essential in order to maximise the appeal and the chance of improving sales.
