Pearl Ring - Promise or Hope?
A pearl ring is often seen on the hand of a young girl. These adornments often have a special meaning both to the young woman wearing it and the person who gave it to her. In some cases, a pearl ring may signify a promise from a suitor - a kind of pre-engagement. In other cases, the pearl may be an actual symbol of a plighted troth.
Still other pearl rings are given to daughters by their mothers, to be passed on to the granddaughters and great granddaughters as a chain of hope and joy from the female side of the family. In some cases, even fathers gift their daughters with a pearl ring to wear until she reaches womanhood.
A pearl ring can be the traditional white, but many choose a gentle pastel shade such as pink, cream, silver, peach, gold or even lavender. Some opt for a classic, stark look with a dramatic black pearl ring, or coordinate with other accessories in chocolate and mauve.
