Looking at the history of the wrist watch
In todays market place there are so many wonderful styles of wrist watches to choose from, each quality product showing off their workmanship and individual style. If you have ever wondered where the first watches were made and who was responsible, it a gentleman called Antoine de Pradwdzic, the years was 1832.
In Geneva after leaving Poland, Pradwdzic took on Swiss nationality, changed his name to Patek and he and a man called Czapek started up a small business producing handmade fashionable watches. When attending a Paris Exposition, Patek joined up with Adrien Phillip a Frenchman, agreed with Czapek to part and started to produce the first of many watches that had a ‘free' mainspring and ‘second hands'.
Such was their ambition and success, they received many awards, and the finest one was an order from Queen Victoria and later Countess Kocewicz. Overall their business bloomed, however it was another fifty years before a small faced wristwatch was made available to everyone. Watches that you see online have now been manufactured by many watch and jewellery designers, each one looking wonderful on a man or woman's wrist, their creativity knows no boundaries.
